Finding the gold in the challenges we face

"It’s not an easy path, it’s actually at times a very hard path, if the yearning in your soul pulls you there no matter what the challenge, then you know it’s for you, that’s the best way I can describe it”.

Mel Armstrong

Mel Armstrong Spiritual Journey

Mel's journey

Mel has spent nearly two decades working with spiritual teachers of different traditions and modalities. Mel came to this at the time of her divorce where there were so many questions in her mind about meaning, essence and purpose – the one that was repetitive was “there has to be more than this”.

Over this time, Mel has connected with many Internationally recognised Master Healers and Teachers, one of which is Shakti Durga. Meeting this teacher in 2007 was the beginning of deeper study and a yearning to immerse herself in the spiritual mysteries, the connection with Shakti Durga has spanned 15 years.

Learning and working within the spiritual paradigms has amplified the longing of more depth in all situations. Finding the gold in the challenges we face, understanding spiritual laws, our own vibration and that of others, what alignment means and the essence of the spark that we call our spirit.

There’s such a difference of having spiritual experiences and living a spiritual life; neither is right or wrong, everyone has a different resonance and it’s important to follow the path that’s right for each of us. Taking a deep dive, working with the fire of the spiritual laws has been a draw card for Mel. “It’s not an easy path, it’s actually at times a very hard path, if the yearning in your soul pulls you there no matter what the challenge, then you know it’s for you, that’s the best way I can describe it.”

Through this path the learning for Mel was discipline, discipline, DISCIPLINE! Learning to work deeply with the energy that we are, the experiences we have, the unconscious we swim in and the egoic desires that often trip us up. The importance of love over opinion, having the capacity to do the dance of life through varying lenses, why devotion and reverence need to be high on your priority list along with compassion, kindness, joy, tenacity and humour; they’re not as far from each other as we think.

Through the years with this teacher, Mel received her spiritual name Anjani Devi which is why you’ll see different references that include this name at times. Working on yourself in a spiritual school is one of the most challenging things you can do at times; “if you want to grow in awareness, consciousness and vibration, I highly recommend it be it for a 2 to 3 year period of time or a lifetime. Time will pass anyway, the only thing we truly have that is personal to us, is our connection, we can decide how we want that to be.”
